WIPA NTDC Supplemental Training: Understanding the Plan to Achieve Self-Support (PASS) Web Course

Format: Web Course

Date(s): May 20, 2024 - June 17, 2024

Description:

This four-week web course provides practical information on the Plan to Achieve Self-Support, or PASS.  The course will include an overview of the PASS requirements for both wage and self-employment, and practical information about PASS development. There will be assessments involving questions based on the material presented in each lesson and a case study exercise. The course is largely self-directed and self-paced (there is no specific date or time you have to be online) within the four-week time frame.

During this training, you will learn:

  • The purpose of the PASS work incentive;
  • How to screen beneficiaries as possible PASS candidates;
  • The specific elements that comprise the PASS application;
  • Considerations for PASS plans involving self-employment goals; and
  • The steps involved in development and maintenance of a PASS plan.

Course Requirements

Each of the subject lessons will require you to engage in a pre-recorded media presentation or alternate format including other supplemental reading material to review. You will be required to complete an interactive case study on a pass/fail basis, a short assessment at the end of each lesson, and a discussion board assignment.

You must complete all three of the following course requirements by the last day of the course to receive completion credit:

  1. Achieving a score of 80% or higher on each of the lesson assessments (with two attempts provided);
  2. Completing the interactive case study (pass/fail); and
  3. Posting one question or comment to the discussion board.

Continuing Certification Credits (CCCs)

If you are participating in the CCC process, we will record nine (9) CCCs in your myNTC account once the course ends and you have successfully completed the course requirements.  If you would like CRCs for this course, please contact Julie Schall at jaschall@vcu.edu once you receive the course completion email.
